After years apart, the star-crossed lovers discover that every path they’ve taken leads them back together
Story
Clotaire, a rebellious local teenager, falls in love with his classmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker, destructive path. Malik Frikah, who plays 17-year-old Clotaire in this film, was a world champion breakdancer at age 10. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic in the 1990s, but the watch wasn’t released until 2016.

I was so excited to see this film directed by Gilles Lellouch and starring Adèle Exarchopoulos and François Civil that I really enjoyed. It has all the ingredients to make a French Bockbuster but they missed it. The first part is way too long to set the scene for their young life and love.
Because I think that, although too long, it was good
After a while, you wonder if you haven’t accessed the wrong screening room. In addition, you start to feel the frustration of not having seen anything of Adèle and François after an hour. If this very long first part was intended, the film should have been shown in 2 outings.
As for the ending, it was too easy
The second part of their adult life is not credible on many points and not exciting enough. I found the adaptation of the screenplay quite weak. In addition, I didn’t feel any connection with this love story of reunion.
It’s a shame because I think we missed the opportunity to have a great film here
Bravo to Mallory Wanecque in the role of Jackie and Malik Frikah in the role of young Clotaire who offer a very good performance.
