And a completely new design is perfect for this
This is the latest version of the Windows operating system, with a new interface and other new features, such as the new Microsoft Store, a new personalized news feed driven by artificial intelligence and best-in-class browser performance in Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Teams chat integrated into the taskbar and much more! What’s new in Windows 11: – Windows 11 will get a completely new design. Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and continue to abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. The Redmond giant has long been preparing to redesign the update codenamed Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently, this was the name under which Windows 11 was. The Sun Valley project has been flashing on the network for a long time – Microsoft regularly revealed details about the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this.
– Start and system elements will float above the bottom bar
Start is the calling card and face of all recent versions of Windows. It is not surprising that in Windows 11, developers will rework it, but not so much functionally as visually – the Start window will float above the bottom bar. We must admit that this small change will make the system look much fresher. Judging by information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “insides” of the menu – the innovations will concern only the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its design will be completely identical to the “Start”.
– Right angles will disappear, fillets will take their place
The action center will be combined with the control buttons – something similar has long been used in some other operating systems. Almost all mentions of the new menu indicate that it will be island-like – the control buttons will be on a separate panel, notifications on another, and individual elements (for example, a player) on another, separate panel. In fact, insiders and concept designers disagree on this issue – some are confident that Microsoft will not change its traditions and adhere to right angles, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the filleting trend. The latter fits better with the definition of “all-new Windows” – floating menus is not enough for a new design to be considered truly new. Cutouts are expected to affect practically everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows.
– There will be a translucent, blurred background everywhere
True, even on this issue, concept designers are divided in their opinions – some draw fillets in all possible interface elements, while others combine them with right angles. There are disagreements on the net about the island style of displaying windows, the design of the corners and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the windows. The vast majority of leaks and design renderings show transparency and blurring in all windows, be it at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak gadgets. The so-called acrylic transparency involves the application of new effects when moving the mouse cursor over elements, as well as increasing the distance between elements – the areas of the interface with which the user interacts will certainly become larger, and the page titles will become thicker.
– A new font, which we have already presented
Windows 11 will likely use the default responsive Segoe UI Variable font, which has already been released in Windows 10 Build 21376 for Insiders. Its advantage is that it is equally suitable for small text and large inscriptions.
